Build a budget from your own dated quotes. Leave with monthly spending, first-year spending, a separate cash reserve and a list of costs still to check.
No regional averages are prefilled. A blank means unknown; enter 0 only when you have decided there is no cost. Nothing here determines affordability or predicts savings.
See a worked example and the arithmetic
Fictional arithmetic example, not Mexico price guidance: monthly costs of 1,000 + 100 + 300 + 100 + 200 + 200 + 100 total 2,000 USD. With 3,000 setup, expected first-year spending is 27,000. Adding a separate 5,000 reserve gives 32,000 cash to have available. The reserve is not planned spending.
If only rent is entered, the result is an incomplete subtotal and names the missing categories.
The CSV includes your sources, missing categories and totals. Open it in a spreadsheet to save, print or compare copies. Text notes are exported as text, not spreadsheet formulas.
Use the result
- Obtain quotes for the missing categories before relying on a total.
- Download a dated copy before changing assumptions. Run a second scenario for your other finalist, then copy both scenarios’ monthly and first-year spending, separate reserves and currencies into the destination comparison. Device saving keeps only the current budget.
- Test a higher-cost version by changing your own amounts and downloading a second copy.
This replaces the former fixed housing comparison. Worksheet edition: 23 September 2026.
